Interior View of Spice on 9th

The Spice on 9th café is operated by Spice entrepreneurs on a rotating basis, giving the public an opportunity to try different world cuisines. Many entrepreneurs will be selling packaged food products, grab-and-go items, basic coffee drinks as well as produce offered by refugee farmers participating in the IRC’s New Roots program and artisan products from IRC’s Small Business clients.

Part of the space will also serve as a small business center for any IRC entrepreneur to start, sustain or scale their small business. For Spice Kitchen Incubator participants, they will receive training and technical assistance in creating, permitting, and marketing these food products, with a focus on using more locally sourced ingredients. The business center will host one-on-one and workshop-based meetings involving all aspects of opening and successfully running a business.

These resources will be available to all entrepreneurs supported by the IRC in Salt Lake City’s Entrepreneurship & Economic Wellbeing department, including Spice Kitchen Incubator, New Roots in Salt Lake, and Small Business and Financial Capabilities programming. The latter two programs provide financial literacy, counseling, and loan products to clients for a variety of personal and business needs respectively.

Spice Kitchen Incubator was founded in 2013 and it’s mission is to assist new Americans as they build viable food businesses as a pathway to self-sufficiency while preserving their culinary traditions.

Thank You for Supporting Spice Kitchen Entrepreneur Chefs.
