Catering Frequently Asked Questions
-
Every caterer offers full-service catering, pick-up catering or drop-off catering services. For full-service catering, this usually entails set up and tear down, including the chef staying on site to help serve. Pick up catering is where the customer comes to pick up the catering order from the prep location, and any supplies and materials needed for the catering. Drop off catering is where the chef will bring the food in warmers, and set up the catering with disposable materials that is then the responsibility of the customer to dispose of.
-
Prices vary a bit between chefs. As a general rule, most chefs price per guest is as follows:
Dinner (est. $18.00+ per person)Lunch (est. $15.00+ per person)
Breakfast (est. $10.00+ per person)
Appetizers (est. $12.00+ per person)
Dessert (est. $8.00+ per person)
Please also expect to pay a service fee between 5-10%, tax, and a credit card processing fee is applicable. You will get a quote from the business of your choosing once you submit the webform and the chef fields your request.
-
The catering request form acts as a semi-solidified reservation, however, each business is going to have a different process for securing a date. We recommend working through the catering channels and planning with the chosen business when reserving a date and reserving at least 14 days in advance.
-
You can expect to hear back from the requested business within 3-5 days, please plan accordingly. Due to the nature of the Spice Kitchen Incubator program, the catering wing is a way for entrepreneurs to learn valuable business skills, including email. Please give extra time when looking to hear back from the selected business.
-
It is possible, but we do not recommend this. It will be up to the businesses requested to decide if this will work for their business model. We understand that it is an exciting idea to work with multiple chefs for one event, but for event planning simplicity and business transaction efficacy, working with one business at a time is best.
If you do decide to work with multiple businesses, you will need to submit a separate webform for each business, as the data input in the webform is sent directly to the chef.
-
Absolutely, you can leave a tip. There are multiple channels for doing so, including leaving a tip through the invoice or in cash.
-
A cancelation at least 14 days prior to the event will not result in any financial penalty. A cancelation within 3 days of the catering event will result in a fine, the value of which will be determined by the Spice Kitchen Incubator participant. Please be aware that
Spice Kitchen Incubator does not determine the cancelation policies for the entrepreneurs, they are independent businesses. Thus, their cancelation policies may vary.
