Chef Nour of Noor al Sham

Originally from Syria, Chef Nour Abdul-Bari came to Utah in 2015 from Egypt. He learned to cook in Syria and became a chef when he was just 16 years old.

Nour wanted to start his own business to make life better for his family. He specializes in shawarma and barbecue and also pickles his own vegetables.

In addition to his catering business, Noor al Sham, Nour has also started a non-profit that helps newly arrived Syrians adjust to life in Salt Lake City. He hopes to open a small restaurant.

He strives to give his customers a great experience with delicious and beautiful food, a friendly personality, and exceptional hospitality!

You can also order items individually. Plus, you can order the combo meal and add individual items in addition to your combo meal. “Mix-and-match as you please.”

Spice To Go Dinner “Options”

Entrées:

  1. Syrian Baked Chicken:

    Baked chicken legs with saffron basmati rice, topped with dakous, a homemade tomato sauce. (Halal, dairy free, gluten free)

  2. Stewed Mixed Vegetables:

    Potatoes, carrots, peas, and onions with saffron basmati rice, topped with dakous, a homemade tomato sauce. (Vegan, dairy free, gluten free)

Appetizers:

  • Baba Ganoush: 

    Roasted & mashed eggplant, finely diced onions and tomatoes, olive oil, lemon juice, a mix of seasonings, and tahini. (Vegan, dairy free, gluten free)

  • Hummus: 

    Chickpeas soaked overnight, ground by hand, and blended until smooth with tahini. Garnished with paprika and olive oil. (Vegan, dairy free, gluten free)

  • Mutabal: 

    A Middle Eastern dip of roasted eggplant, cucumber, and greek yogurt. (Vegetarian, contains dairy, gluten free)

  • Arabic Bread: 

    One piece of leavened flat bread (Vegetarian, contains gluten, dairy free)

Beverage:

Vimto, Mixed Fruit

Dessert:

Basbousa

A cardamom white cake made from semolina flour and coated generously with a lemon and rosewater simple syrup. (Vegetarian, contains dairy, gluten, and eggs)

Order Pickup

Place your order by Wednesday, June 15th at noon, and pick up your items on Thursday, June 16th between 4-6:30pm at Square Kitchen (751 West 800 South).

When you arrive for pickup please text us (385-202-5207) with the first and last name on the order, if you would like disposable utensils, and a description of your vehicle when you arrive. We ask that you remain in your vehicles and a staff member or volunteer will run your orders out shortly.
