Welcoming Laan Na Thai
(Oct. 2016) - On Friday, October 14th, 2016 the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC) Spice Kitchen Incubator program, in partnership with Salt Lake County, will officially be welcoming Laan Na Thai Restaurant to the Salt Lake City local food scene. Join us as we gather to indulge in the tastes of Northern Thailand and experience this culture in the best way we know how – by eating!
In the space formerly known as Ekamai, Laan Na Thai is a micro-restaurant located on 336 West and 300 South with a new and exciting menu! In addition to dishes like Yellow Curry, Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles we know and love here in the States, Laan Na Thai will be incorporating a few more unique and authentic dishes inspired by the cuisine of northeastern Thailand where they are from: Pumpkin Curry, Kao Soi, and Hung Lay Pork are all worth trying, to just name a few!
Yupin and Wichai, the owners of Laan Na Thai, immigrated to the United States just seven years ago. They joined Spice Kitchen Incubator in January and purchased their restaurant space in March. Yupin has been around food all her life, beginning in Thailand where she helped her mother run a food stand. She has also been the chef in this same location for the last 6 years when the business was operated as Ekamai Thai, and is excited to continue providing the same high quality food and warm customer service to downtown eaters while infusing her own recipes into the menu. Owning a restaurant has been a dream of Yupin and Wichai’s for many years and they are so excited to call it their own!
Spice Kitchen Incubator is a culinary business incubator that provides technical assistance to refugees, immigrants, and low-moderate income individuals that have dreams of owning a food business.
