(July 2019) - Carey, the Spice Kitchen Incubator New Business Scale-Up AmeriCorps VISTA, has spent the last few months planning and piloting regular workshops to help entrepreneurs navigate a variety of tax forms and procedures for small food business owners including sales and use tax, special event tax, and restaurant tax.

Carey works closely with Elsa, another AmeriCorps VISTA at the IRC, to engage a number of bilingual volunteers with small business tax preparation experience to mentor Spice participants as they learn the intricacies of the U.S. tax systems. These workshops will be offered quarterly at the Refugee Education and Training Center's Micro-business Connection Center.
