Spice Kitchen Incubator hosted a 2-part virtual sales & use tax workshop with business owners last month. Many entrepreneurs hoped to learn more so they could do their own filing in the future, and one entrepreneur even asked if there would be more financial workshops in the future to continue to develop and understand the complexities behind the US tax system.

Entrepreneurs were very excited to chat remotely about their businesses with one another, a crucial missing piece since COVID-19 has limited in-kitchen interactions over the past year.

"Overall, Spice Kitchen had a wonderful meeting, chatting in a virtual group and individually with entrepreneurs," said Spice's Business Development Intern Carmen.

Carmen is currently studying Food Innovation and Management at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, and has been trained by Program Manager, Kate, on filing sales and use tax. Carmen is excited and ready to jump in to support entrepreneurs in the coming months, including technical support to access online payment portals and maintaining accurate records of quarterly income.

We are currently looking for additional volunteers interested in leading workshops on tax-related topics for small businesses. To learn more, send us an email!
