Chef Ynoelia

Cuisine: Dominican

Hispaniola Bistro, based in Square Kitchen Eatery in South Salt Lake, opened it’s doors on Dominican Independence Day in February of 2025, bringing the taste of the tropics to the Wasatch front. Utah’s first dine-in Dominican restaurant, they’re busy bringing the freshest, most mouth watering Caribbean classics to our community.

Hispaniola Bistro specializes in scratch-made Dominican cuisine, inspired by the vibrant night life, fresh produce of the Dominican countryside, and the traditional meals that bring families together at the table.

Chef Ynoelia, originally from the Dominican Republic, moved to Utah in 2016 after spending two decades in New York City. She joined Spice Kitchen Incubator in Spring 2024, with the intention of sharing her culinary traditions with members of the Dominican community looking for the taste of home, returned tourists dreaming of the once again savoring the flavors they experienced on the island, and Utahns seeking authentic, fresh new delights from the Caribbean alike.

Food is a center of family life in the Dominican Republic, and learning from the women in her family at a young age, Ynoelia has always valued nourishing her community with home-made meals made exclusively from scratch. Ynoelia is the type of chef who grinds her own meat, favoring the freshness and quality compared to pre-ground meat purchased in stores.
