Celebrate World Refugee Day with Us!
(July 2019) - World Refugee Day is celebrated globally during the month of June and, here in Salt Lake City, we're celebrating June 21st and 22nd!
Established by the United Nations General Assembly on Dec. 4, 2000 - World Refugee Day is an annual commemoration to celebrate the strength and resilience of the refugee communities throughout the world, recognize the struggles faced by displaced populations, and raise awareness about refugee issues.
This year's annual World Refugee Day celebration is at Big Cottowood Regional Park (4300 South 1300 East in Millcreek), and will include activities and eats for people of all ages! Purchase gifts from the global market, watch competitive soccer and volleyball games, enjoy cultural dance and music, hang out with some goats, or our personal favorite: eat!
The food festival will include a total of 13 vendors - six on Friday evening and 7 more on Saturday. Travel the world with flavors from Sudan, Syria, Kenya, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and more!
