Chef Saadiyah of Ashikat Kitchen

This week's featured chef is Saadiyah of Ashikat Kitchen. Ashikat Kitchen offers savory dishes and delectable desserts from the Middle East with influences from Iranian, Iraqi, Jordanian and Syrian cuisines.

Saadiyah grew up in Iraq and Jordan and both cultures influence her cuisine. She learned how to cook with her parents in their family restaurant. Saadiyah hopes to expand her own business, Ashikat Kitchen, into a bakery and restaurant. Her favorite part about cooking is seeing the look on peoples' faces as she watches them taste her culinary creations. Ashikat Kitchen uses fresh ingredients and provides superior quality food through unique styles."

Entrées:

  1. Chicken, Stewy Beans and Rice (14oz):

    Whole chicken legs baked in tomato sauce with garlic, lemon juice, and onions. Served with basmati rice and stewed white beans cooked in a garlicky tomato sauce. (Hal, dairy free, gluten free)

  2. Fried Corncakes with Biryani (14oz):

    Fried cornmeal cakes sauced with stewed white beans in a garlicky tomato sauce. Served with basmati rice. (Vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free)

Appetizer:

  1. Spinach Fatayer (2pc):

    Traditional savory pies handmade and stuffed with spinach, pepper jack cheese, garlic and spices. (Vegetarian, contains gluten, dairy free)

  2. Beef Fatayer (2pc):

    Traditional Middle Eastern savory pies handmade and stuffed with beef, onion, spices and parsley. (Halal, contains gluten, dairy free)

Sides:

  1. Beetroot Salad (8oz):

    Red beets, chives, parsley, cilantro, dried mint tossed in a light lemon olive oil dressing. (Vegan, dairy free, gluten free)

  2. Cream of Mushroom Soup (8oz):

    A rich and creamy soup made with mushrooms, onions and garlic. (Vegetarian, contains dairy, gluten free)

Dessert:

Konafa (1pc):

Shredded phyllo dough filled with walnuts and topped with homemade syrup. (Contains gluten, contain walnuts, contains dairy)

Mint Lemonade (12oz):

Homemade lemonade with chopped, fresh mint lightly sweetened (Vegan, dairy free, gluten free)

Order Pickup

Please Note: Orders close Tuesday October 4th at Noon! Orders can be picked up, hot and ready-to-eat from Spice Kitchen (751 W 800 S Salt Lake City, UT 84104) Thursday October 6thth from 4-6:30pm.

When you arrive for pickup please text us (385-202-5207) with the first and last name on the order, if you would like disposable utensils, and a description of your vehicle when you arrive. We ask that you remain in your vehicles and a staff member or volunteer will run your orders out shortly.
