(July 2019) - The Salt Lake City community showed up in great numbers to help raise funds for our new kitchen, cafe, and store front recently! Hosted by Creminelli Fine Meats, Traeger Grills, and Harmon's Grocery, the Discover Food Festival brought Spice Kitchen Incubator entrepreneurs together with local refugee advocates and philanthropists to enjoy global cuisine and raise funds for a new build-out in the Granary district of downtown Salt Lake City.

Attendees enjoyed small bites from Syria, Venezuela, Somali, Armenia, and Mexico while making their way through Traeger's beautiful building toward the back patio where the grills were fired up and the smell of jerk chicken filled the air with Kafé Mamai cooking on the wood-fired grills. The other featured businesses includedNoor al Sham, Delicius, Namash Swahili Cuisine, Spudnik, and The Salseria.

Volunteers assisted with the flow of the event and created an exciting atmosphere from the moment guests arrived. They were greeted with Armenian sweets, Swahili finger foods, and a goody bag with a raffle ticket and donated snacks. Guests had the opportunity to purchase additional raffle tickets for the chance to win some big prizes from in-kind donors.

Thanks to our hosts, sponsors, donors, and community, over $17,000 was raised for our new building, creating more market opportunities for entrepreneurs and more opportunities for the Salt Lake community to experience cultures from around the world through food. You can look forward to our new kitchen, cafe, and store front later this year.
