Salt Lake City Community Shows Up to Sponsor Spice Kitchen Incubator's Build-Out
The Salt Lake City community showed up in great numbers to help raise funds for our new kitchen, cafe, and store front recently! Hosted by Creminelli Fine Meats, Traeger Grills, and Harmon's Grocery, the Discover Food Festival brought Spice Kitchen Incubator entrepreneurs together with local refugee advocates and philanthropists to enjoy global cuisine and raise funds for a new build-out in the Granary district of downtown Salt Lake City.

Spice Kitchen Incubator's partnership with the Salt Lake City Public Library continues to provide additional market opportunities to new food trucks as well as those well-established mobile food businesses.

AmeriCorps VISTAs Pilot Tax Workshops
Carey, the Spice Kitchen Incubator New Business Scale-Up AmeriCorps VISTA, has spent the last few months planning and piloting regular workshops to help entrepreneurs navigate a variety of tax forms and procedures for small food business owners including sales and use tax, special event tax, and restaurant tax.
Partnership with Kiitos Continues to Grow
Last spring, Hayat's Grill began developing a frozen product to sell at Kiitos Brewery, a local brewery located in the Granary district of Salt Lake City. Cauliflower korma is currently available for patrons of Kiitos to purchase, and soon enough there will be baklava and samosas!
Officially Enrolling Cohort 11
The Spice Kitchen Incubator team has recently completed orientation for the enrollment of our eleventh cohort, and we couldn't be more excited to get these entrepreneurs' cuisines out to you!
Some of the upcoming businesses include: tamales, savory Syrian treats, Afghani desserts, Moroccan dinners, and traditional tea parties!
Chef Spotlight: Chef Roxana
Chef Roxana makes delicious, authentic Salvadoran desserts and is the first business following our new home-based food business track! Roxana makes gelatinas, cheesecake flans, and budín, a traditional pastry topped with a homemade caramel sauce.
Salt Lake City celebrates 25 years at Journey to the Wasatch
The International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City held its annual Journey to the Wasatch event in April, gathering over 150 local humanitarians for continued advocacy in support of refugees. This year's event was extra special as the IRC in Salt Lake City was celebrating 25 years of resettlement services!
